What's happened to Ask?

I've been going to this branch of Ask for absolutely years. I've started going more frequently recently (like 3 times in the last month) and the standards have gone through the floor. We have experienced parts of our order being forgotten, one person's dessert being brought out while the other is left to melt on the counter, 40 minute wait for a starter(!), bland food, scrimping on ingredients, of course, the obvious price rises, and most annoyingly... Twice this week we have practically been ignored by our waiter; Monday we waited 40 minutes for our bill before Kay had enough and went and asked. Yesterday, we had to wait half an our to order our desserts (and again only did after Kay demanded we should order) and another half hour for the bill which AGAIN Kay had to go and ask for herself. I know service in America is so much more efficient and I should not compare, but in LA, we get offered more drinks and we get asked if everything is OK with our food. At Ask, they just leave you there on your own. They can't be treating all their customers this shabbily because they would not have any... or maybe everyone else has low expectations... I am certainly off Ask though. Shame.

Feeling crafty...
So I was bored last night and decided to make a few calenders for my family and friends for Christmas. These are a few of what I came up with. I did make others but they were along the same lines as these.
I heat embossed the ferret head from an old stamp onto black card with a sparkly gold embossing powder.
The ballet dancer is a dufex postcard I found on ebay for 10p. Little plastic flowers and large silk flowers with a crystal brad finish it off.
A bit of decoupage on this one. I found the backing paper as part of a cheap craft pack I bought years ago. It's sticky backed so super easy to work with.

Hollywood has gotta be for Kay. I got a set of Hollywood-related black and white pictures off ebay about a year ago. I had initially intended to do it as a kind of waterfall card but I think this way looks so much better.

Better With Cheddar Nachos!
We decided to try a recipe from the Real Food Daily cookbook last night and this is my version of their nachos. Some small differences... I didn't fry the tortillas (I don't like too much fat in cooking), I didn't use guacamole (because I didn't have any avocados and forgot to buy some), the fake cheese was sliced instead of melted, and I used vegan refried beans instead of actual beans. Damn good though...
So we have corn tortillas, refried beans, cashew cheese, pico de gallo, and soya cream. Mmm. Very filling.

Joy
Went out for dinner with Kay last night. Ended up at a nice little Brazilian tapas bar. I had bread and olives and then after 6 margaritas, decided to have some tortilla chips. Well wonderful news... I now have phosphate poisoning and cannot walk. Even my spine is hurting... I will spend the rest of the day laying on the settee under a couple of collies.
Just had to pay two lots of import duty (still resent the handling charge) but did receive my rather beautiful Tarina Tarantino rings. Will share photos another day...
Kay moves to London at the weekend to start at university. She's all excited. Good for her. She's also broken up with her saddo boyfriend who is pathetic beyond belief. Yesterday, she shared her naked photos of him. My word. Aside from being the hairiest person in the universe, he has the second smallest penis I have ever seen. Only smaller one I have had the misfortune of encountering belonged to one of the blokes from Motorhead. And who said all rock stars have big ones... So finally she came to her senses. We have already decided to get out to LA next March (as long as it does not coincide with our studies). He said she wasn't allowed to go with me as he is that much of a controlling cock monkey. Meh.
Getting on with my Christmas shopping. Also have my winter boots sorted for the season but still trying to decide on a coat.
Ooh I received a copy of Rudolph Valentino's Day Dreams through the post this morning. Only set me back 75 quid...
